🔥 Quick Summary
Foreign Exchange (FX) fees occur when a transaction happens across borders or currencies.
For Business Owners: You sell in your chosen currency (e.g., USD). You receive exactly that amount (minus standard processing fees). You do not pay the FX fee.
For Members: You will typically see prices displayed in your local currency (e.g., Euros) for your convenience and pay the FX fee at checkout.
Refund Note: Because exchange rates change daily, refunded amounts may differ slightly for the member.
🏢 If You Are a Business Owner Selling on Nas.io
Do I pay FX fees on international sales?
No. As a business owner, you are protected from currency fluctuation fees.
You list your price (e.g., $100 USD).
You receive $100 USD (minus standard platform/gateway fees).
Any extra cost for currency conversion is paid by the member on top of your listing price.
How does the "Nas.io FX Fee" work?
If your base currency is USD and a member pays in Euros:
The payment gateway (Stripe/Razorpay) charges a conversion fee.
Nas.io applies a small FX fee (e.g., ~2%) to cover the complexity of multi-currency routing.
Crucially: These fees are calculated and added to the Member’s total at checkout. They are not deducted from your payout.
How does this affect my payout?
You are always paid in your set Business Currency.
If you sell a course for $100, you get $100 worth of value.
We handle the conversion before it reaches you.
Note: If you are using Payment Link (Zero Link) you have the option to charge based on the currency of your preference. Click here to know more about payment link (zero link).
🛒 If You Are a Member (Buyer)
What currency will I see?
Nas.io automatically detects your location to display prices in your local currency for convenience.
Why is the total higher than the listed price?
If you are paying in a currency different from the Business's currency (e.g., you pay in Euros for a US course), the total will include:
The Product Price.
Standard Processing Fees.
FX Fees: A combination of Bank and Nas.io conversion fees to process the international transfer safely.
💡 Example: Who Pays What?
Here is a simple breakdown of a transaction where the currencies don't match.
Scenario:
Business Owner (You): Selling a course for $100 USD.
Member (Buyer): Paying with a Euro (€) card.
Line Item | Who Pays It? | Amount (Example) |
Product Price | Member Pays | $100.00 |
+ Gateway FX Fee | Member Pays | + $2.00 (approx) |
+ Nas.io FX Fee | Member Pays | + $2.00 (approx) |
= Total Charged | Member Pays | $104.00 (in Euros) |
|
|
|
Your Payout | You Receive | $100.00 (minus standard processing fee) |
Note: The member's bank statement may show a slightly higher total if their specific bank charges an additional "Foreign Transaction Fee." Nas.io does not collect or control that fee.
⚠️ Important Note About Refunds
Exchange rates change every single second. This creates a small discrepancy during refunds.
How it works:
Day 1 (Purchase): A member buys your course for $100 USD. The exchange rate is 1 USD = €0.90. They pay €90.
Day 7 (Refund): They ask for a refund. The rate has changed to 1 USD = €0.85.
The Result: You refund the full $100 USD. The bank converts it back at the new rate, so the member only receives €85.
📝 In Summary
Business Owners: You refund the exact original amount ($100). You lose nothing.
Members: You may receive back slightly more or less than you paid, depending on your bank's daily rate. This is out of Nas.io's control.
❓ Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Q: Can I pass the standard processing fee to the member?
A: No, standard processing fees (e.g., 2.9% + 30¢) are the cost of doing business and are deducted from your earnings. However, FX fees are automatically passed to the member.Q: My member is unhappy because their refund is "short." What do I do?
A: Explain that you refunded the full original amount (send them a screenshot of the transaction). The difference is caused by their bank's daily exchange rate.Q: Does Nas.io profit from the exchange rate fluctuations?
A: No. The exchange rate is determined by the global market and the payment processors (Stripe/Razorpay) at the moment of purchase.
