What Should I Announce?

Announcements let your community know what's happening and important information like rules and upcoming events.

Updated over a week ago

On Nas.io we’ve given you a place to post your announcements on your public page so they’re easy to see and easy to find.

Announcements are how you communicate important information to your community. And they can take many forms… Rules, event announcements, an onboarding message, a change in tools and features. It’s a tool that every community will use, including yours.

Announcements often contain important information that your community members can’t afford to miss, but on chat platforms like WhatsApp or Telegram, announcements can be a huge pain for so many reasons.

Even if you have a dedicated announcement channel, things get lost, people don’t read it, and it inevitably gets missed by most members of your community (including those who really should be reading them!).

Here are some announcements we recommend to post when setting up your community.

  • Community rules and guidelines

  • Any planned events

  • A list of community videos and resources (if you have any)

  • A welcome message for new members

  • Onboarding information for new members

You can set up these announcements in your Community Manager Portal. When you’re done, hit post and your announcement will appear on your community’s homepage. Simple!

If you need inspiration for community rules, here’s an example:

Hey everyone, welcome to [community name].

The goals of our community are to [goals 1, 2, 3 etc.]

Our community manager is [name]. You can contact them at [community manager email].

It’s important to us that all members feel safe and supported. To help everyone have the best possible experience, please take a look at our community guidelines:

In the event of someone violating these guidelines, we will take action to protect other members of the group. This might include a warning or in the event of extreme or repeat behavior, the member may be banned from the community.

If you experience or witness any behavior that doesn’t follow our community guidelines, please contact the community manager or admins directly. All reports to us will be kept confidential.

We hope this makes your community building experience better than ever before. If you run into any problems, reach out to your account manager, or email hello@nas.io so our team can provide you with technical support.
